Gianmarco - 2013 |
"Greta Garbo" |
My last, and the love of my life. “Beanie,” as I call him, and I have a non severable bond. I think most of this comes from the fact that at three, he was still nursing.
I was worried about him because he didn’t start muttering anything until he was about two. Then one day I asked him “Gianmarco, there’s ice cream here ... don’t you want your ice cream?” He didn’t answer and kept playing with his truck. On the fifth try I heard “I don’t want any ice cream, MOM.” Okay, then ... no ice cream ... and those seven other language interpreters you live with DID teach you English and the F-OFF attitude as well.
He is stubborn, tenacious, but not a mischievous toddler. He stays where you put him, as long as there is a tv, a puzzle and snacks. He has learned to navigate an iPad better than some adults, and will tell you to take a hike in his three year old language with no remorse. The most important aspect is, he loves his mamma more than anything ... and having a baby at almost 46, he keeps me young. He was a special gift, the swan song to my child-bearing years.
