You can give him the medal because he started it all … lol. What a wonderful gift. He carried me through one of the darkest times in my life, my mom’s death, just by being born.
Ever since he could walk, he had a ball, a stick, a puck, a bat or golf club in his hand. To this day Devvy (as only a mom could call him) is madly in love … with all the anchors on ESPN. He loves any sport, but hockey is his true love. I used to pray this kid would just fall down so many times and be done with the freezing, barbaric sport that I still have no desire to ever watch or learn again in my lifetime. Instead of being discouraged, he was playing varsity by his sophomore year in high school, and to this day I still remember how he loved his missing six year old teeth because it made him look like Ken Daneyko on the Devils.

Today, his infectious, charismatic personality makes it easy to give him money when he asks (which is a lot), but he makes you feel so good about it. His sixth-grade math teacher used to call him Eddie Haskell, and man did she call that one. Devin’s independence and love for travel are infinite, and the best part: he still loves to hang with his mom. We do a lot of mom-son stuff and share a mutual admiration for the only viable sport in my book: Baseball.
